Monday (Music) Madness

It's been a while I posted about 'Monday Madness'. 

Yesterday a friend of mine Les shared a terrific version of Simon & Garfunkle's classic "The Sounds of Silence"performed by heavy metal band "Disturbed". Haven't heard of them before, but this one... goosebumps indeed...

But I'll leave you to judge...

The New Year's Resolutions

It's the last day of the year 2015. New Year's Eve. Time to...

No, I'm not going to review it as, ah well... it's better not to say too much, right?

And don't expect from me any New Year's Resolutions. I'm not good in keeping them just like the members of the UN. We know what happens to their resolutions, right?

But there is one thing, I'm going to do. At least I will try very hard not to forget about it.

Not so long ago, I came across a very beautiful song, actually it's an adaptation sung by three magnificent voices Il Volo.

The music (composed by Nicola Piovani) comes from a movie La Vita e Bella or better known as Life is Beautiful (by Roberto Begnigni). The lyrics was written by Noa and somehow summaries everything I have to keep in mind.

Christmas mood - ON!

I do love the time around Christmas. As a child most of my Christmas holidays were white. But lately it happens very rarely. 

Not really surprising with everything what goes around with the world climate, right?

But then again when I was a child it was so much easier to fall into the Christmas mood; a little (or in my case a lot) of snow, free days from school, expectation of Christmas presents - and that was basically it.

Now, being all grown up (don't laugh!) things are not so simple anymore. 

As I mentioned, usually no snow (although, don't get me wrong - at the present time I like snow in lowlands only during the time of Christmas and New Year, otherwise I'm happy if it's only up on the hills and mountains), only a few free days from - yes, you guessed it right - work, no expectation of Christmas presents as mostly I buy them for my family and friends...

So, to turn my Christmas/festive mood on - I attack YouTube and seek out the Christmas songs. 

In the past decade or so, I chose my favourites... and there are many of them!

As much as some songs adaptations are better than the originals and some are good versions and some are - so-so, there is one (by my opinion) that should never face an adaptation. 

Do you wonder which one?

Music

A few days ago a question popped up in an authors' group of which I'm a member. The question was, what do we listen to when we write or think of writing.

Not really few members answered that they need silence while writitng. I'm quite the opposite; I need music.

It doesn't matter what I do; driving to and from my work, while working in the office, being home doing housework, playing with the kids, reading and last but certainly not least, when I write. I need some background music. It keeps me going. 

Now, I'm not a musican myself, although I'm sorry that I'm not, but hey, that's life. 

I always needed music around me; in my teenage years and some years after that too, I was only able to fell asleep if I had the radio on and I woke up when the alarm (music on a radion) went off the next morning. 

So it's actually no wonder that I listen to music while I write. I listen to radio or CDs or even something from my many different Youtube lists... I have plenty of them...

I also listen to diffrent types of music, from Classic Insturmental, Opera and Musical,  to Jazz (the 'old' one), Country, Electronic, New Age, Latin, Pop, Rock... basically almost everything. 

But there is one genre that actually stole my heart; I always somehow return back to it. Irish folk music...

It's funny as I'm not from the island, but the songs... ah well, let them speak for themselves...
