Holidays 2017

We... love to travel. And we love to spend our days off - summer holidays - on the Coast, so each year we decide what to do. To travel or to go to the sea side?

But this year it was different. Most of my two weeks holidays we stayed - at home. You see, we didn''t really make any plans on what to do, mostly because somewhere back at our minds (mine and OH's) we knew there are some things to be done at home.

With both of us working full time and me having one hour drive each way, five days per week, we mostly run out of time to do anything at home or around the house. And there are a lot of things to be done, believe me.

And I so much 'love' when my OH's DIY projects include me.
Luckily my OH has a nerve to do a lot of things on his own. He... has an idea and he sees how things will look when the project he plans will be be finished. But sometimes he has trouble executing the idea and that is where I have to jump in.

Crazy right? But that's how it is. And I'm not bragging.

So these last two weeks - of our summer holidays - were spent repairing the balcony leading from our daughter's room and the second project was extending the terrace outside our living room.
Don't be alarmed, we still have a lot to do as two weeks time was just not enough to do it all, and of course, we took some time off too...

To go to the Coast. We just love it there...

In the morning...

and in the evening...

Ah, well... we'll certainly be returning soon...

A week till Christmas

For the past few years I'm noticing I hate time between Samhain and Yuletide - the time between 1st November till Winter Solstice. I do. I can't help it.

The one thing that gets me down at this time is the fact that we turn the clocks backwards at the end of October and that the days become significantly shorter. There's nothing worse than going to work when it's pitch dark outside and coming home - not much different.

Basically, this is the reason for my 'silence' in the past few weeks. There have been so many things to be done in my 'real' life and frankly some bad things has happened that I had had really no desire to write about them or share them with the world.

But, this is going to change and soon. The sun will return, the days are going to get longer - bit by bit, second by second and this helps me get through. I know now I'll have to prepare myself next year much better for this...

Holiday 2016 ~ Crossing Europe

I know I promised to write about our Holiday, to describe to you where were we and what had we seen, but, the truth is ~ sometimes life gets in a way and the promises we made can be kept, just more time than we thought passed between the promise and actualization of it.
Unfortunately we had a family crisis and although the things are not yet back to normal, recently the hope that everything will be OK increased. And here I am, writing my blog again.

As this was not our first travel like that - we had alreday been to the UK (south England) in 2011, OH and I knew exactly which road we're going to take. Before our actual travel I'd made a file with all the necessary papers, like ferry tickets, hotel reservations, some information of the attractions we wanted to see, and of course our family main target ~ to find the DRAGON I knew IS (still) on display at one of so many beautiful castles in Wales.

Like I said in my previous blog post (you can find it here: Holiday 2016 ~ Going on a Quest ), we were heading across Europe to the UK, with the final destination being Wales. But to get there, we had some countries to cross.

Of course we needed to travel to the border with Austria. We had chosen border crossing Slovenia:Šentilj / Austria:Spielfeld border crossing. It was closer to our home town and the other reason was - Karawanks Tunnel Crossing is basically during the Summer time known for its infinitive congestion. You can ask any Austrians or Germans that travel to the Adriatic Sea for their holiday if this is true.

We travelled through Austria smoothly, despite road works and endless tunnels on the motorway from Graz to Passau in Germany. Then the longer part of our journey started. Germany.
Five years ago my daughter at that time age seven, frustratingly stated:
'It can't be that big!'
after she got on her endless questions of 'Where are we?' we answered: 'In Germany.'
Well, it is. Passau, Regensburg, Nürnberg, Würtzburg, Frankfurt am Main and Cologne were the cities we left behind on our way. One after the other, until we got to the small town of Frechen just outside of Cologne where we had stopped for our first night.

Smiles tell everything, right?
